It’s the last night the world cup is going to be in Cape Town and I’m working. I was so keen to go out, after 12 when my shift ended I got home quickly and organized a cab to pick me up from Fat Cactus. Earth Wind and Fire get me amped. By 12:30 my cab was there. Luckily Paula and Earnest wanted to share the cab with me. The driver was nice. They were going to Zula and I was going to Fiction so we split up. I got out the cab and saw Zahier talking to some person that looked like a dealer to me and after a few minutes of chatting we found out his history of struggle. Quite heavy to start off the night, we gave him some money for the shelter.
Fiction next where I lose Zahier in the first few minutes. I see Roxy who has just lost her friends so she runs off and I look for more friends. I find Lolly and Cheralee, lots of fun. They are both so nice. It’s a mission buying drinks, I usually avoid it cause of the bar queues. I get a beer, a tequila and a drink for Lolly. Chatting to Mike about his new camera, it’s pretty amazing, one of those 550D’s. Graham joins and tells me he owes me money about 5 times. Maybe he was drunk, I don’t know. Kyle is playing tonight. Think I have been to almost all of his gigs. I go inside and listen to his set which gets cut off early by this Joburg group called double adapter. Two guys, one in a white suit and the other in a black one. They played some nice bangers. They had a nice energy. I met a kunt next. Jane won the pair of feiyue’s. Nice one. One of my favourite shoe brands actually.
All I want to do is piss, fuck this line is ridiculous. I usually go next door when it’s too full but Joburg had an entrance fee so my last option was around a back alley. Its fine, I was pretty drunk by this point. I go back upstairs and find Ebby, Roxy and Charlotte on the balcony talking to some American guys, most of the foreigners during the world cup have been sleazy guys trying to get with your friends but these people were awesome. I want to buy Simone and Kim some drinks and the bar line is so kuk so Graham says he has a tab inside and takes 20minutes to get drinks, eventually the girls leave us in the line ha ha but Graham does manage to get the drinks. He got six bottles of something and dropped three on the floor so Graham, Cher and I were sharing. I see Junaid, we talk a bit about signal hill and who wants to take him there, ha ha funny. Dave’s feet are a bit mangled from the club, love how he never wears shoes. I don’t know where time went but next thing we are getting pushed inside by the bouncer. Tommy and Ben are playing with Kyle sneaking in a nipple and the lights come on. No one wants to leave. We eventually get kicked out where Simone, Kim and I meet some fucking weird people on the street. I got some photos. Even Blade’s Wesley Snipes was there.
I don’t know how it happened but someone told us to go to Three Stories for an after party. I walk with Jaime, Nugget, Kyle and his girl to the car, it takes half an hour with all the photos on the way. It’s about 4:30am when we eventually leave the Adderley Hotel parking bay. We drop Kyle’s girlfriend at home and head back to Woodstock and in one of the back streets we see a fresh Cros. One of the best pieces I have seen in Cape Town, fucking nice. Three Stories was a perfect venue for the after party, speakers and everything set up already. Apparently the guy running it invited a few people and 30 ended up coming. I felt like I was intruding so I introduced myself to Ricky. I don’t think anyone was sober, it was so fucking fun, everyone was laughing and spinning things and doing claw handshakes and stepping into hippy drum circles, Mat. Jaime Sitting on Nug, no boner. Disco from P.H. Fat was playing dub later on- you can see by his hand movements. Again more photos that I didn’t take. A mustache, a few hugs goodbye and then we leave to Steers. There is now traffic for all the early workers. King Steer is the only option. Eat in the car and then Mat drops me at home. What a great way to end the world cup.
